All the photographs within this category were taken in the remote Scottish Highlands. Few towns or villages are found in the Highlands and even fewer people; this, the mountainous environment and its remoteness make it one of the last truly unspoilt wilderness areas in Europe.

Although English is the official language of the United Kingdom, it is not uncommon to find Gaelic spoken in parts of the Scottish Highlands, particularly on the outer islands.
