Islands - Skye
There are over 200 islands in Scotland, almost all of them off the west coast. Many are uninhabited, although Arran, Rum and Skye are amongst the best known and visited. Each island has its own charm and different mountaineering challenges.

To the walker and climber, Skye means the Main Ridge and gabbro corries of the Cuillins. Nowhere else in the British Isles do the mountains rise with such hostility and splendour. Any visit to the Cuillin is a serious undertaking due to the weathering the rocky mountains have endured, the terrain underfoot and the nature of the hills themselves. A visit to the Cuillin is adventure at its best, and a traverse of the Main Ridge an almost alpine undertaking (apart from the lack of a 1000m contour).
