Baltoro Glacier - Askole to Paiju
The Baltoro Glacier, at over 70 kilometers long, is the longest glacier outside of the polar regions. The seven day walk up the river of ice passes some of the most amazing granite towers and walls on earth and ends at Concordia, the Throne Room of the Mountain Gods, overlooked by K2, the world's largest pyramid.

Askole is the last inhabitated village in the Shiagar valley before the trek up the Baltoro Glacier. From now on only the barran valley and glacial river remain until the ice is reached some 40km away. The photographs in this section follow the Shiagar valley to the start of the glacier.
