   Central Highlands     -     Perthshire

The Central Highlands are defined as the mountains south of an imaginary Dalwhinne to Rannoch Moor line, and are the most frequented hills visited by walkers from the main areas of population in the central belt, most of the mountains being accessible as day trips.

The region of Perthshire lies north of Edinburgh and is the gateway to the Eastern Highlands. Apart from its mountain scenery, Perthshire is also well known for the wonderful waterfalls at Bruar and the spirling rapids at the village of Killin. Both are well worth visiting after heavy rain when they are at their best.
