North West Highlands - Glen Carron
The North West Highlands are considered by many to be one of the last wilderness regions of Europe. The area can be reached relatively quickly from the conurbations in the central belt, but the real adventure of visiting this vast area is to penetrate into the remote mountain areas accessible only by foot. In many cases this requires a short holiday.

Little known and little visited, Glen Carron looses most of the highland traffic to its better known neighbour Torridon, which is a pity as the glen provides plenty of hill walking amongst its many Munros, and is home to one of the finest winter climbing areas in Scotland - the Mainreachan Buttress of Fuhr Tholl. Indeed some of Scotland's best known climbing guides have based themselves in Acnashellach, the main village in Glen Carron, to take advantage of the proximity of the mountain.
